How to Change Your Password on Your Device (Faculty\Staff Only)

KB Sections:

Introduction

Note: GBIT Service Desk cannot reset passwords over email due to security reasons.

This article covers the recommended method for changing your UWGB password on your device. This method ensures that your password is updated on your device first and then synced with all other services, avoiding potential syncing issues that can occur when using the Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) tool.

NOTE: You must know your password to proceed. If you are unsure of your password, please reach out to the GBIT Service Desk via phone or in-person. Unfortunately, we cannot reset passwords over email due to security reasons.

Changing your password within the SSPR tool will not change your password on your campus device. If you've reset your password with the SSPR tool and are experiencing syncing issues with your device, please contact the GBIT Service Desk via phone or in-person for assistance.

UWGB Windows PC

NOTE: If you are on a UWGB laptop, make sure you are connected to the VPN. UWGB desktops do not need to be connected to the VPN. If you are on campus, be sure you are connected to a UW-Green Bay network.

  1. Laptop Only: To know if you are connected to the VPN, look for the globe on your taskbar. Press the hidden icons "^" button if the GlobalProtect icon isn't directly on the taskbar. Select the globe and note whether it says "Connected." If not, you are not connected to VPN.

      1. If it does not say "Connected," or you cannot find GlobalProtect, then you are on an iMac or not connected to VPN. Please contact the GBIT Service Desk for assistance.
